The game-plan for North Shelby in the Class 1 boy’s state championship was clear from the get-go. Get the ball to senior Cody Stoneburner. A lot. At 6-10 and with no players on Jefferson’s roster over 6-3, the strategy worked to perfection. Stoneburner scored 33 points to lead the Raiders to a 59-51 win to grab their first state title. But Stoneburner was more than just an offensive threat. He pulled down 10 rebounds and blocked eight shots. He’s Missouri’s career leader in blocked shots.

North Shelby seemed to have things under control in the third quarter, when Stoneburner’s lay up gave the Raiders a 46-39 lead. But the Eagles, who were 30-1 coming into the game went on a 10-0 run and led 49-39. North Shelby responded by out-scoring Jefferson 12-2 the rest of the way.

North Shelby finished the season with a mark of 31-1
