A state audit says uninsured motorists are costing Missourians $90-Million a year in extra insurance premiums. State Auditor Claire McCaskill blames lax enforcement by the state revenue department in enforcing mandatory insurance requirements. But State Revenue Director Trish Vincent says this is something she inherited from the previous administration and something lawmakers have not given enough money to run properly. McCaskill contends if the fine for non-compliance with the insurance requirement was more than just $20, there might be more money and better compliance.
