Columbia Cops Work To Repeal Marijuana Possession Law

March 14, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

Some Columbia police officers are circulating petitions asking for repeal of the city’s marijuana possession ordinance. The ordinance was approved by voters last November. One says offenders caught with small amounts of marijuana will be charged with a municipal violation, leaving no state criminal record. The Columbia Police Officers Association says its members will be going door to door soliciting signatures. A bill working its way through the Legislature would ban all high school sports tournament activty in Columbia as long as the city has that ordinance.
