Royals Beat Brewers, Cardinals Top Astros

March 11, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

The Royals have won two straight spring training games after topping the Brewers 6-4 on Thursday. They broke a 4-4 tie in the ninth inning as Calvin Pickering and Andres Blanco got things rolling with two singles. Emil Brown drove in Pickering with a one-bagger and an insurance run came across when Blanco scored on an error. After Kevin Appier allowed four runs, Kyle Snyder entered and pitched two perfect innings for the Royals. The Cardinals improved to 5-1 in Florida with a 4-2 victory over the Astros. Chris Carpenter went four innings to get the win. Brandon Backe allowed three two-out walks to St. Louis in the third inning. Reggie Sanders drove in Albert Pujols and Scott Rolen with a single, to snap a 1-1 tie.
