Condemned killer Stanley Hall has asked the State Supreme Court to halt his execution, scheduled for next week. Hall has filed a motion with the court, claiming new evidence discloses that he is mentally retarded. Hall is scheduled to be executed a minute after midnight Tuesday for the murder of Barbara Jo Wood of south St. Louis County. Hall and a companion kidnapped Wood at the South County Mall. They wanted her car for a drive-by shooting. When Wood tried to escape, Hall shot her, then threw her off the McKinley Bridge into the Mississippi River in January of 1994.
