Missouri Woman Claims She’ll Turn 115 Friday

March 7, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

A woman in Wellston might turn 115 years old next Friday. Social Security records list Katie Bruce as being that old, which makes her one of the world’s oldest people. But an international organization that studies “supercentenarians” says it’s more likely she’s closer to 104. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch quotes the Gerontology Research Group saying that if she’s 114 she would have had her youngest child when she was 52, which is unlikely, and that her husband was more than ten years younger than she was when he died in the 1950s. But that’s not keeping her famly from getting ready for her 115th birthday.
