Senate Begins Re-Writing Corporate Farm Laws

March 3, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

The Senate has started rewriting the state’s corporate farm laws, but notice already has been served that the big farms might face some big problems before anything passes. Chances are increasing that the beef, pork, turkey, and chicken under the plastic or in the box that you take home from the grocery store came from a concentrated animal feeding operation – the fancy name for big corporate farm. The proposal restricts local controls on those operations. As originally suggested, it changes the rules for public notification and comment on proposed farms.
