Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Eric Warfield received a 10-day jail term and an 80-day probation today in District Court of Johnson County in Olathe, Kansas today for a felony drunk driving conviction. It was Warfield’s third arrest for DWI in less than four years. Two misdemeanor charges of driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance were dropped.

Warfield was arrested on September 20, 2004, hours the Chiefs lost their home opener to the Panthers 28-17. Warfield picked off two passes and ran one back for a touchdown in the loss. Warfield admitted in court today that he is an alcoholic and has completed treatment. He could also face a suspension from the NFL for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. His jail sentence began today.
