Worst case scenario: The SMS women’s basketball team will tie for the Missouri Valley Conference regular season title. They beat Wichita state 79-50 in Springfield, to clinch at least a tie for the conference crown. Senior Jenni Lingor led the way for SMS on Sunday with 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Nicole Lehman and Sarah Klaassen added 18 points apiece, while Kari Koch dished out eight assists. The Lady Bears built a 30-24 advantage at the half, then scorched the nets in the second half by shooting over 59 percent over the final 20 minutes. With the win, SMS improved to 19-6 overall and 14-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference. They have two more games against Bradley and Northern Iowa on Thursday and Saturday at the Hammons Student Center. A win in either of those games or a Northern Iowa loss will earn them their second straight regular season conference championship.
