Tourism Director Makes Pitch For More Money

February 25, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

The State Director of Tourism realizes lawmakers have a tough job when it comes to budget matters this year, but he asks the people at the Capitol to consider how much could be lost if Missouri’s tourism efforts are not fully funded. John Robinson says the industry saw a 12.3 percent growth in Missouri last year because lawmakers nearly fully funded his agency last summer. Robinson says the state actually makes $2.80 in tax revenue for every dollar it spends on promoting itself. He’s asking for $18-Million in funding this year.
