Missouri’s man on the House Armed Services is worried about how the military is disseminating information from the war in Iraq. West central Missouri Congressman Ike Skelton says the military has two separate information divisions: Public Affairs and Information Operations. Public Affairs is designed to get information to the American public through the media. Information Operations is intended to fool the enemy. But Skelton says the military in Iraq seems to be trying to merge the two divisions. He says if that is done, it will undermine the credibility of the American troops with the public back home. Skelton is encouraging military leaders to re-think that strategy, and believes he might have them on board with his way of thinking that the two areas stay separate.
