Secretary Of State Proposes Early Voting

February 17, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

Secretary of State Robin Carnahan wants the Legislature to allow early voting in this state. She proposes that a voter would be able to mail in an absentee ballot or go to a central voting location within six weeks of an election. In addition, counties and voting districts with more than 60,000 people would get extra “satellite” voting locations. Carnahan compares her idea with the “No Excuse Absentee Voting” system already working its way through the Legislature. Carnahan admits she has no sponsor for the bill, yet, but she’s hoping for bi-partisan support.
