Governor Matt Blunt has moved to fill more of the vacancies in his administration. He’s nominated Mark James of Liberty to be the next Public Safety Director. James worked with the Missouri State Highway Patrol for nine years before starting a 17-year career with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Blunt has also named Michael Chapman to serve as the Deputy Director of the Department who will oversee the state’s Homeland Security efforts. The Governor had announced earlier that he would have the Department of Public Safety absorb the Office of Homeland Security, which would no longer operate as an independent entity.
