Kansas City International Airport has seen its first increase in passenger numbers since 2000. More than 9.7-Million passengers used the airport last year, up almost four percent fromt he year before. Passenger use started dropping after the terrorist attacks in 2001, bottomed out in 2003 when Vanguard Airlines went under, then showed a slight growth last year. The numbers have spin-off benefits to the airport. Parking and concession receipts went up almost $4-Million dollars last year.
