I-70 Toll Road Proposal Moving Through Senate Committee

February 8, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

A proposal to ask voters if they want to make Interstate 70 a toll road is rolling through a State Senate committee. Senator Matt Bartle wants to put a constitutional change before the voters because of what he calls the “hard, cold reality” about rebuilding I-70. Supporter Jerry Mudd of Kansas City works for an architectural engineering firm. He says tolls would be a good thing. People who run gas stations and convenience stores are not happy with the idea, but their objections appear likely to become road kill as the committee prepares to recommend Senate passage of the bill.
