House Democrats Criticize Blunt For Government Waste

February 8, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

House Democrats criticize Governor Matt Blunt for authorizing renovations in his Capitol office even as he calls on state government to brace for budget cuts. The top Democrat in the House, Jeff Harris of Columbia, says Blunt needs to lead by example. Harris claims the costs could push close to $100,000. Blunt spokesman Paul Sloca says it will cost about a quarter of that. Sloca won’t say he considers the Democrats’ action a mere political attack. He says the Governor is willing to talk with anyone who has ideas about cutting waste in state government.
