Cardinals Owner Says Jocketty Will Return

January 29, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

Could Walt Jocketty actually be on his way out of St. Louis? The answer is no according to Cardinal ownership. Jocketty’s contract with the team expired on Dec. 31. He recently told a national baseball columnist that if he was not offered a contract soon, he’d consider offers from other teams. In an interview with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Cardinals charmain Bill Dewitt Jr. said he expects to get a deal done with Jocketty, and he expects to get it done soon. Since Jocketty took over as general manager in 1994, the Cardinals have won five division titles and Jocketty has twice been named baseball’s Executive of the Year.
