The SMS Bears grabbed their biggest win of the season Wednesday, when they knocked off Southern Illinois 92-77 in Springfield. Six Bears finished in double figures as the Bears upped their overall record to 9-8 on the season and 3-6 in Missouri Valley Conference play. SMS jumped out to a 43-39 lead in the first half and turned on the jets in the second half, outscoring SIU 49-38 the rest of the way. Center Tamarr Maclin led the way with 16 points, Blake Ahearn had 14, Deven Mitchell scored 14, Tyler Chaney had 12 and Nathan Bilyeu scored 11. Maclin also brought down 12 rebounds. Coming into the game SIU, had the 14th best defense in the nation, allowing 58 points per game. The Salukis dropped to 15-5 overall and 6-2 in MVC play.
