One of the many elements of Governor Blunt’s 2006 Budget is a proposal to cut 194 positions from the Department of Revenue by closing eleven branch licensing offices throughout the State. The branch offices will be converted to fee offices – run by private contractors. There are already 171 such operations in Missouri. The Department’s Jessica Robinson says efforts will be made to find jobs for the people who will be out of work. In addition to other government jobs, it’s hoped some of those whose positions will be eliminated will find jobs in the fee offices. The move is being made as part of an effort to save the State $8.1-Million.
