You could hardly tell it these days, but just a few weeks ago the UMKC basketball team was 0-7 and on its way to a very disappointing season. On December 28, they lost to Wichita St. 81-66 and that was the last time they lost. The Kangaroos won their eighth straight and got over the .500 mark for the first time this season by topping IUPUI 81-76 at Hale Auditorium in Kansas City Thursday night. The eight-game roll is a school record. Brandon Temple led UMKC with 25 points, while Tim Blackwell added 17. The ‘Roos shot 66 percent in the second half, hitting 14-of-21. UMKC is now 8-7 overall and 6-0 in Mid-Continent Conference play.
