State Senator Wants Limits Lifted On Campaign Contributions

January 19, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

A State Senator who says Missouri’s campaign finance law has become a big-money monster wants to remove the limits on donations people can make to political candidates. Senator Tim Green of St. Louis says limits on donations to candidates have let big-money donors make donations indirectly that can be kept secret. He says it’s best to make the candidates responsible. However, he would limit donations that can be made to third-party committees or political parties. Those donations can then be used on behalf of a candidate with names of the donors kept secret. He wants those donations revealed, too. Or, as Green puts it – the people have a right to know who is buying government.
