Debate in the House on what could well become the laws under which we all live will change this session. House Speaker Rod Jetton of Marble Hill succeeds in pushing through sweeping rules changes which he claims are the most bi-partisan in the history of the House. Democrats disagree, largely voting against. Democrat Rachel Bringer of Palmyra objects to limiting debate on major bills, even if Republicans and Democrats get equal time. Democrats also object to sending bills to a Rules Committee that will determine House floor debate. Speaker Jetton says he had hoped for consensus.
