MVC Doles Out No Extra Punishment To SMS, SIU Players

January 18, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

On Monday afternoon the Missouri Valley Conference decided not to pursue any further discipline to players who were involved in an altercation between SMS and Southern Illinois Saturday. SMS’ Trevyor Fisher and SIU’s Jamaal Tatum (graduate of Jefferson City Helias) were got tangled up and it appeared that Tatum threw a punch. Fisher took objection and jumped up quickly. Three players from SMS’ bench took to the floor (Tyler Chaney, Blake Ahearn and Jeremy Nicholson). All five players were ejected. After reviewing the tape, the MVC decided that Fisher did not actually throw a punch and since no other punches were thrown the incident was not declared a fight. As such, no other punishment will be handed out.
