Legislature Asked To Approve Voter Registration Changes

January 17, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

One of the new faces in the State Senate thinks too many people who are not eligible to vote are registering to vote and he wants to put a stop to it. Freshman Senator Larry Gene Taylor of Shell Knob sponsors a bill that would require proof of U.S. citizenship by all those registering to vote. He says precautions must be taken to ensure only Americans are voting in Missouri elections. Taylor says such documents as utility bills – which can be obtained by anybody who resides in the state – are often accepted as proof of U.S. citizenship by Missouri election officials.
