Marion College: Dreams Killed By Speculation

A Presbyterian minister named David Nelson moved to Missouri in 1830 with a dream for a college. He settled in the Palmyra area and set aside about eleven acres for his unique school. He called it Marion College, an institution which led to some wild wheeling and dealing in its time..It fostered rampant speculation in the area and when it died, many dreams died with it.
