Royals first baseman and DH Mike Sweeney says he felt “misled” by Royals owner David Glass. That’s what he told the Kansas City Star in an article published Friday. Sweeney, who signed a five year, $55-million deal in 2002 says that owner David Glass assured him that the team would invest more of its money in payroll and try to bring a winner to Kansas City. Sweeney says Glass told him that they would increase payroll to about $60-million. Last year the team spent $44.7-million on players’ salaries and this year they hope to cut that number to less than $42-million.
