The frustration continues for the SMS Bears. They dropped to 1-4 in the Missouri Valley conference with a 68-63 loss to Northern Iowa last night. SMS trailed 28-27 at the half, but the Panthers picked up the pace in the second half and led the Bears by as many as 15 points. The Bears battled back and even got to within one point with 11 seconds to go, but never got any closer. Erik Crawford and Ben Jacobson took care of most of UNI’s scoring with 19 and 18 points apiece. The Bears were led by Tyler Chaney, who had 12 points and Anthony Shavies, who had 11. SMS fell to 1-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference an d 7-6 overall. Three of their conference losses have been by five points or less. UNI is 12-3 and 3-1.
