A Senate committee is conducting hearings to change the State’s workers’ compensation law. A bill to make the changes is sponsored by Senator John Loudon of Ballwin, who says the law must be amended to cut back on the high costs. The legislation aims to restrict the eligibility for workers’ compensation benefits. Loudon and others say people who aren’t even injured in workplace accidents are now qualifying for benefits – and they say that must change. Only supporters of the legislation were heard from on the first day of the hearing. It will continue next Wednesday when opponents will have their opportunity to be heard.
