Thousands Descend On Capitol For Inauguration Day

January 10, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

Thousands of people are expected at the State Capitol today to watch Matt Blunt become Missouri’s next Governor. The building was evacuated and closed for a couple of hours before sunup today so security officers could check for bombs or weapons. Blunt transition spokesman Paul Sloca says today’s society demands strong security at events such as these. He says the cost of today’s inauguration will be about $250,000 – about one-fifth as much as was spent on the Holden inauguration four years ago.
