Bond Outlines Priorities For New Session Of Congress

January 8, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

The new session of Congress is underway in Washington and should kick into high gear shortly after President Bush’s inauguration. Steve Walsh reports Senator Bond has a number of priorities he’d like to see addressed in 2005. Senator Kit Bond is talking up the importance of health care and education. He wants to expand the number of people served by Community Health Centers for those who lack health insurance. And, Bond would like increased federal funding for the Parents As Teachers program, which he began as Governor. Bond also intends to work for litigation reform at the federal level, and he wants to pass a Highway Bill that will bring plenty of transportation dollars to Missouri. He realizes he faces some tough challenges. Despite the challenges, Bond is optimistic. He hopes the numerous filibusters that marred the last session will not be repeated.
