The SMS Lady Bears held on for a 77-71 win over Evansville Thursday night at the Hammons Center. SMS led by as many as 20 points in the second half, but Evansville battled back to tie the game at 70 with just over four minutes left. SMS, though, scored seven of the final eight points to secure the win. Nicole Lehman led the Lady Bears with 18 points……..The Southeast Missouri State women won their Ohio Valley Conference opener over Austin Peay 59-56. The victory breaks a seven-game losing streak against Austin Peay. Tatiana Conceicao led Southeast with 14 points…….The UMKC women drilled Southern Utah 77-57 on Thursday. Liz Obrecht led the Kangaroos with 16 points. UMKC shot 45.6 percent from the floor (26-of-57), while Southern Utah (19-of-68) shot just 27.9 percent.
