The St. Louis Cardinals have found a new second baseman. The Redbirds signed free-agent Mark Grudzielanek to a one-year deal on Thursday. Grudzielanek will make about $1 million in base salary with an additional $500,000 possible through incentives. Grudzielanek hit .307 with six home runs and 23 RBI for the Chicago Cubs last season. He missed about two months with a right achilles injury, but finished the season strong, hitting .343 over the final 43 games. The 10-year veteran also played for Montreal and Los Angeles before spending the last two years with the Cubs. Grudzielanek is a career .287 hitter.
