Blunt Announces Choice To Head State Ag Department

January 6, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

Governor-elect Matt Blunt has selected Charleston farmer and small business owner Fred Ferrell to serve as Director of the State Department of Agriculture. The 63-year-old Ferrell owns Ferrell Farms – a corn, wheat, soybean, and cattle farm he started with his father and runs today with his son. He’s also the owner of Charleston-based Mid-Valley Irrigation, Incorporated. Blunt has also named former State Representative Matt Boatright of Sedalia to serve as Deputy Director of Agriculture. The Ferrell nomination requires Senate confirmation.
