Higher Education Commissioner Settles Into New Post

January 3, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

Missouri’s new Commissioner of Higher Education is now on the job. Greg Fitch’s appointment as Higher Education Commissioner was announced in November, but he didn’t move into the post until this week. He’s now ready to tackle what he considers the top challenges facing higher education – including access to colleges and universities and the need for more funding. Fitch will be asking government officials in Jefferson City for more money … and he realizes there’s only one way to succeed in that effort: to demonstrate that higher education officials are efficient and effective. Fitch believes the economy and higher education must go hand in hand. Before coming to Jefferson City, Fitch served as President of the Utah College of Applied Technology. Prior to that, he was Executive Director of the Idaho State Boad of Education.
