Chiefs End Season With Loss At San Diego

January 3, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

A disappointing season came to an end for the Chiefs on Sunday. Kansas City lost 24-17 to a San Diego team that rested most of its starters. The Chargers dominated most of the way, and jumped out to a 24-3 lead in the fourth quarter. Kansas City found the endzone twice in the final period, but could not come all the way back. The quarterback-duo of Doug Flutie and Phillip Rivers combined for 232 yards passing and two touchdowns for San Diego. Trent Green was 33-of-53 for 373 yards and a touchdown, but the Kansas City quarterback also threw four interceptions. Tony Gonzalez caught a career-high 14 passes for 144 yards. Gonzalez finishes the season with 102 receptions, setting a new NFL record for most receptions by a tight end. The Chiefs end the year with a record of 7-9.
