Danforth Believes Grand Jury Needed For UN Oil For Food Program

December 22, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

United Nations Ambassador John Danforth thinks a grand jury soon will be looking at the Iraqi “oil for food” scandal. Danforth has told editors of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch a grand jury is necessary because the special commission appointed by the U.N. Secretary General does not have any subpoena power to compel testimony, but a grand jury would. Danforth is leaving his U.N. job soon. He says he wants to spend more time at home in St. Louis with his wife, Sally.
