St. Louis Teachers Authorize Strike

December 17, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

Members of the St. Louis Teachers Union have authorized the union to break the law. They have given the union the authority to call a strike. Teacher strikes are illegal under state law. 86 percent of the voting teachers favored the walkout. In a separate vote, 93 percent of the voting teachers rejected the school district’s latest contract offer. About half the teachers in the St. Louis school system are union members.
