Monday is Election Day for President and Vice President of the United States. It is on this day that presidential electors – members of the Electoral College – gather in State Capitols throughout the country to cast the official votes for the two top office holders in the nation. To nobody’s surprise, all 11 of Missouri’s electoral votes for President were cast for George Bush, while all the votes for Vice President were cast for Dick Cheney. The certified ballots will now be sent to Washington, D.C., where they – along with all the other ballots from around the country – will be counted in the presence of Vice President Dick Cheney in his role as President of the U.S. Senate.
