Record Dollar Amounts Spent On Governor’s Race

December 3, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

A record amount of money was spent in our gubernatorial campaign: $27.6-Million. But the special circumstance of this year’s race lent itself to breaking the record $19-Million spent four years ago by Governor Bob Holden and Senator Jim Talent. This year’s race featured a hotly contested primary battle between Governor Holden and State Auditor Claire McCaskill. McCaskill spent a total of $11.4-Million successfully knocking off Holden only to lose to Matt Blunt in the general election. Blunt spent a total of $9-Million.
