NHL and Players To Meet Thursday

December 3, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

The negotiations will resume between the NHL and its players next Thursday in Toronto at the players request. The players contacted the league about returning to the bargaining table for the first time in almost three months and the league agreed. There’s no public word about what the players’ new proposal will entail, but one thing is for sure—any proposal that includes a salary cap will be a 180-degree change from their stand in the past. The players have been vehemently opposed to any restrictions on their salaries, while the NHL has indicated that no settlement to the lockout—now 79 days—will occur without a salary cap.
