Former Negro League Pitcher Connie Johnson died in a retirement home in Kansas City over the weekend. He pitched for the Kansas City Monarchs in 1942 before going to World War II. He pitched again for the Monarchs after returning form the war. Johnson then played in Canada before entering the majors in 1953 as a 30-year old rookie and stayed for five seasons with the White Sox and Orioles, winning 40 games. He was 81.
