Mo. Schools Get Early LOI’s

The national letter of intent signing day began for high school basketball seniors Wednesday. Mizzou, which has just one scholarship to give after NCAA sanctions, got a letter of intent from guard Keaton Grant of Kissimmee, Florida. Keaton averaged 22 points, seven rebounds and five assists per game as a junior. Matt Lawrence of Lafayette High School (St. Louis) will walk-on next season and play with an academic scholarship. He averaged 16 points and five rebounds as a junior…SLU got letters of intent from East St. Louis product Tommy Liddell, who signed with Saint Louis last year, but decided to attend a prep school in 2004-2005. Kevin Lisch, of Althoff, Illinois signed with the Billikens yesterday. As a junior, he put up 25 points per game…SMS signed Shane Laurie of Springfield Kickapoo, whose older brother Spencer, is a sophomore for Mizzou. The younger Laurie was a first-team all-state selection in 2003. Justin Fuehrmeyer of Francis-Howell Central socred 13 points per game, but his specialty is passing—he averaged 7.6 assists per game. . SMS also signed forward Derrick Moore from Dallas’ Lincoln High School which was the state runner-up last season. Moore enters his third year as the team’s captain, averaging 12 points and six rebounds per game. Ryan Boyd, who hails from suburban Dallas averaged 15 points and six rebounds per game as a junior.
