The early college basketball signing period begins today for high school seniors. Because of their NCAA probation, the Missouri Tigers which will have their scholarships reduced from 13 to 12 next season are expecting just one signature today, shooting guard Keaton Grant of Kissimmee, Florida. Matt Lawrence of Lafayette High School had verbally committed, but with the lack of a scholarship, he will join the team as a walk-on. Luckily for the Tigers, Lawrence’s grades and scores are good enough for him to earn an academic scholarship next season….The SMS Bears are expected to sign four players today, two from Missouri and two from Texas. Shane Laurie of Springfield Kickapoo and Justin Fuehrmeyer of Francis Howell Central will represent the Show-Me State for SMS, while Ryan Boyd of Seagoville and Derrick Moor of Dallas Lincoln will represent the Lone Star State….SLU will get two players to sign on the dotted line Tommie Liddell of East St. Louis High School signed with SLU last year, but decided to go to a prep school for one year. He’ll have to sign again today, which he is expected to do. SLU is also awaiting the signature of Kevin Lisch of Althoff, Illinois.
