An annual report card on the nation’s overall health in the 50 states ranks Missouri Number 36 – with Number 1 being the healthiest and Number 50 being the unhealthiest. The annual report is compiled by the United Health Foundation – a nonprofit, private foundation working toward healthier communities. Doctor Reed Tucson, Vice President of the Foundation, says several factors go into the rankings, including access to health care, obesity rates, and use of tobacco. Doctor Tuckson says the community environment also comes into play. That includes crime rates, workplace environment, and the number of uninsured citizens.
