Missouri Bar President Criticizes Teitelman Ouster Bid

November 1, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

The President of the Missouri Bar speaks out on what he sees as a strong conservative attack on the independence of the judicial system. Bar President Joe Whisler says the conservative effort to oust Supreme Court Judge Richard Teitelman relies on rhetoric more than facts. In fact, he says, the anti-Teitelman campaign is filled with mis-truths. He says the leaders have gone beyond the phrase “activist judge.” Teitelman is up for retention tomorrow. Lawyers throughout the state have strongly recommended he be kept on the State Supreme Court. Teitelman cannot comment on the criticisms against him because Court rules prohibit it.
