Plane Crash Dulls Win For Johnson, Second Place Finish For Joplin’s McMurray

October 25, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

At Martinsville, Jimmie Johnson came away with his sixth win of the season and Kurt Busch held on to the lead in the point’s race. Joplin’s Jamie McMurray finished in second place, to earn his eighth top five finish and his 20th top ten finish. Rusty Wallace, a St. Louis native, finished 18th , Carl Edwards of Columbia was 24th and Fenton native Ken Schrader was 31st. The race, however, was overshadowed when it was learned that a plane owned by Hendrick Motorsports crashed and killed ten people, including family of owner Rick Hendrick.
