Springfield Cardinals Join Texas League

October 22, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

The Springfield Cardinals have a home stadium. Now they’re officially part of a league. Texas League president Tom Kiser welcomed the team during a press conference at Hammons Field on Thursday. The St. Louis Cardinals Double-A will play a 140-game schedule running from April to September. The Cardinals will play in the same division as the Wichita Wranglers, which is the Kansas City Royals Double-A affiliate. Springfield opens the season at Arkansas on April 7. Their home opener at Hammons Field is set for April 12 against the Tulsa Drillers.
