The Democrat in the race for Governor has responded to the racially charged campaign advertisement put out by the Missouri branch of America Coming Together. It’s an ad that ties suppression of Black voters in the Civil Rights Era to what ACT Missouri calls Republican efforts to keep Blacks from voting now. Claire McCaskill says the ad is “over the top.” She adds that while Blacks should be reminded of the struggles that led to their right to vote, it is wrong to point a finger at the Republican Party. McCaskill says Democrats should take the high road in political campaigns.
