Kansas City Chiefs founder Lamar Hunt was inducted into the Greater Kansas City Business Hall of Fame on Wednesday night. Hunt was inducted along with Ollie Gates, founder of Gates Barbeque. The Greater Kansas City Business Hall of Fame honors prominent business leaders who have made extraordinary contributions to Kansas City. Hunt was instrumental in forming the AFL in 1959 and merging the league with the NFL in 1966. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1972. The trophy awarded to the AFC Champion is known as the Lamar Hunt Trophy.
