Democratic gubernatorial candidate Claire McCaskill has put forward a plan to help Missourians deal with the high cost of prescription drugs. The main ingredient of the plan is a proposal to make it easier for Missourians to buy lower cost prescription drugs from Canada. McCaskill says these drugs are the same medications available in Missouri, but are available at a fraction of the cost in Canada where price controls are in effect. She says reimportation has strong support in many states. An AARP study found drug prices have increased 27.6-percent in the last four years, while the general inflation rate rose by about 10-percent.
